getting there: plantae kingdom here i come
Why do people assume that animals are more sentient than plants? Plants eat photons and make oxygen. They’ve figured out how to consume pure sunlight as their only food source. They don’t hurt anything in order to survive, they only give. What could be more evolved than that? I am in a constant diet identity crisis because I grew up on meat (and fuuuuuck is it tasty) but for health and ethical reasons, I try to avoid flesh and eat mostly vegetables. And I’ve gotten so weirdly open minded that now I feel guilty about ripping living plants apart with my bare teeth. I’ve always recognized that you have to literally kill and consume in order to survive, whether it’s adorable cows and pigs and chickens, or adorable broccoli and baby carrots. I think the closer your diet gets to pure sunshine, the closer to god (goddess). So, even though I’m massacring heads of lettuce, at least I’m one step closer to being like a plant and consuming only photons for my survival. Maybe next year.
